about

This original composition, “Grab My Hand” (tr.), is written by Mikk Targo, a later hit-maker inspired at the time by local underground discos with secretly imported records of Earth, Wind & Fire and the likes. When the beloved singer-songwriter Tõnis Mägi broke through on Russian TV, he needed a band. To conquer the big stages of the USSR, Mikk Targo put together Music Seif. It wasn't long until the funk, soul and disco enthused band played covers like “This is a Man’s World,” Russian hits as well as their own songs, to audiences ranging from 6000-60000 people. The hereby track is dedicated to the first love of Mikk Targo, who left him after a long musical tour. Unable to find a way to commit suicide, Targo instead took a cab via the scenic Pirita seaside road in Tallinn, and poured his heart into this song, which has since become a local dance-floor classic. In this song you can hear synthesizers Crumar and Yamaha CS15 that were smuggled into the USSR.
